Patent Reexamination Board Issued Ruling Favorable to Leading European Company Represented by Beijing East IP Ltd.

In January 2014, Patent Reexamination Board (PRB) issued a ruling favorable to a leading European company (the “Company” hereinafter) represented by Beijing East IP Ltd., rejecting a request for invalidation filed by a competitor of the Company.

In 2010, a patent of the Company was declared to be invalid upon the request of the competitor. However, in 2012, Beijing East IP Ltd. successfully represented the Company and won an administrative lawsuit before Beijing High People’s Court, and Beijing High People’s Court ruled that PRB erred in invalidating this patent. In 2013, PRB reheard this case to address the other issues not touched in the decision made by Beijing High People’s Court. Our team of attorneys again successfully defended the Company, and PRB has declared that the competitor’s request is dismissed and the patent is valid.
