Mr. Xiao presenting at AIPLA 2016 Annual Meeting

In October 2016, BEIP’s senior patent attorney and the manager of the Biology and Chemistry division Shanqiang Xiao was invited to present at the APILA’s 2016 Annual Meeting. Mr. Xiao was invited as a panelist for the AIPLA’s Chemical Practice Committee Session, where his presentation focused on his experiences in providing amendments under various circumstances, and the importance of experimental data for chemical related Chinese PCT applications.

In the same panel, Mr. Xiao share with six other panelists from Fortune 500 companies and law firms across the world to discuss the best practice in streamline PCT applications for operating companies in this globalized world. The panelists shared the caveat to pay attention to when filing in their country, and also discussed potential ways to expedite prosecution and to secure patent rights in a shorter timeframe. During the open floor discussion session, the intrigued audiences raised many challenges they face, and the panelists shared their best practice tips in resolving these challenges.
