On June 12, 2014, Beijing East IP attended the MIP China International IP Forum 2014 in Sheraton Beijing Dongcheng Hotel. Discussed and exchanged views with domestic and international intellectual property association officials, government officials, corporation intellectual property experts regarding intellectual property protection, monetization experiences and strategy in different jurisdictions.
On May 28 – 29, 2014, Beijing East IP attended the Internet and E-Commerce IP Forum hosted by the Supreme People’s Court and the Beijing High Court. Chairman Dr. Lulin GAO presented a topic on software and business patent protection on the Internet.
From May 10 – 14, 2014, partner Jason WANG of the Trademark Department led a team of Beijing East IP Law Firm attended the 136th INTA in Hong Kong.
The trademark team met and exchanged views with new and existing clients during INTA, discussed trademark prosecution, protection, and litigation, and deepened the connection with our primary European and U.S. clients. The trademark team met with many lawyers and IP professionals from different countries, including the U.S., Germany, the U.K., Canada, Singapore, New Zealand, India, etc. to discuss about trademark protection strategy in each country, and share their views on worldwide trademark management and protection.

On March 12, 2014, the Institute of Intellectual Property (IIP) and Beijing East IP Ltd. co-hosted an international seminar in Japan-China Friendship Center in Tokyo, Japan. This seminar was hosted by Mr. Nari NAKASHIMA, the Deputy Director of IIP. Mr. XiaodongLI, General Manager ofBeijing East IP Ltd., and Mr. Yoichi OMORI, Executive Director of IIP, each delivered a speech as representatives of the host at the opening of the seminar. More than 120 professionals attended this seminar, including IP lawyers and IP attorneys from domestic Japanese enterprise, attorney and attorney from Japanese patent law firm, examiners from the Japan Patent Office, professional IP experts from IP organizations and universities.

After the seminar, IIP and Beijing East IP Ltd. held a small cocktail reception at Yu Yuan Restaurant across from the Japan-China Friendship Center. Attorneys from our firm, researchers from IIP, and the attendees had pleasant interaction and improved mutual understanding.

This seminar utilized multiple sessions of speech, Q&A, and interactions to allow IP professionals of Japanese enterprise and law firm understand the latest development of China IP protection. This seminar also provided advisory opinions on how can foreign enterprises protect IP rights in China through their experience and analysis of typical cases.
On April 10, 2014, Beijing Eat IP organized a team to attend the AUTM Asia 2014 in Taipei. During the conference, many worldwide intellectual property experts discussed important issues in the field, including industry-academia collation, technology transfer, innovation creation, intangible property evaluation, high value patent, resolution of intellectual property disputes in litigation, arbitration, and mediation, recent breakthroughs in life science/agriculture technology, ICT, and creative industries.

The 2nd Seminar on Regulations on Unfair Competition on the Internet, jointly held by the Copyright Union of Internet Society of China, Beijing East IP Ltd. and K & L Gates LLP, was successfully held On April 15, 2014. Partners from K & L Gates, Mr. Hugh Bangasser and Ms. Kate Spelman, were invited as key speakers. Over 30 attorneys from renowned domestic internet companies attended.
The Seminar continued with the subject of the 1st Seminar and extended the discussion in respect of the US and Europeinternet unfair competition regulations and practices. The Seminar also probed into the decision made by the China SupremeCourt on Tencent v.Qihoo360 Technology. Moreover, the seminar introduced the “Early Neutral Evaluation” alternative disputes settlement resolution and experiences used in the U.S., and discussed such alternative disputes settlement trial practice withspecific cases.
In November 2013, Beijing East IP organized a team to attend the Intellectual Property Litigation Evidence Regulation Seminar hosted by the Supreme People’s Court and Jiangsu High Court in Nanjing. This seminar increased our attorneys and lawyer’s professional skills in intellectual property litigations.
On October 26 – 27, 2013, Beijing East IP sponsored the Application of Intellectual Property and Competition Law High Level Conference was successfully held in Beijing. Beijing East IP organized a team with patent agents and lawyers to host a booth. During the Conference, Chairman Dr. Lulin GAO presented a topic on the business patent protection on the Internet. General Manager Dr. Xiaodong LI hosted the patent sub-forum. The guest speakers of the Conference included justices and judges from the Supreme People’s Court, SIPO, Patent Review and Examination Board of SIPO, China Trademark Association, the Beijing High Court, Beijing Intermediate Courts, the Shanghai High Court, the Fujian High Court, the Guangdong High Court, the Zhejiang High Court, the Jiangsu High Court, also scholars and professors from Tsinghua University School of Law, China University of Political Science and Law Intellectul Property School, East China University of Political Science and Law School of Intellectual Property, Intellectual Property Academy of Renmin University of China, The Institute for International Intellectual Property of Peking University.
On November 6, 2013, Copyright Union of Internet Society of China and Beijing East IP Ltd. jointly hosted Seminar on Unfair Competition on Internet in the office of Beijing East IP Ltd.. The seminar invited Ms. Kate Spelman, partner at K & L Gates as the lecturer. More than twenty attorneys from famous Internet companies in China attended the seminar.
The seminar explored the court trials and solutions of Unfair Competition and anti-trust on Internet, by citing specific cases in U.S., Europe and China.
On October 17, 2013, the Second China InternetInnovation and Intellectual Property Protection Summit was held in Hangzhou, China. Chairman Dr. Lulin GAO presented as a keynote speech as the Vice Chairman of the Internet Society of China. Beijing East IP, a committee member of the Summit, successfully invited Judge Kesheng JIN the Deputy Chief Judge of the Intellectual Property Tribunal of the Supreme People’s Court.
