In August 2013, the Trademark Review and Adjudication Board (TRAB) supported the appeal filed by the applicant represented by Beijing East IP Ltd., and the TRAB rendered the favorable decision approving the registration of the BLURB mark in Class 40.

In September 2013, the China Trademark Office (CTMO) recognized that the mark of a worldwide famous social network website enjoys relatively high reputation in China and granted cross-class protection to that website. Beijing East IP Ltd. represented this worldwide famous social network website in the trademark opposition.
On September 12 – 13, 2013, Beijing East IP organized a team to attend the Patent Information Annual Conference of China 2013 in Beijing with a theme of “patent information promotes innovation and motivates strategic development.” Our team exchanged views and discussed with various intellectual property professionals from Europe, the U.S., and Japan.
In September 2013, the Trademark Review and Adjudication (TRAB) rendered a favorable decision for a worldwide famous casino and resorting company based on its prior copyright and rejected the opposed mark’s registration. Beijing East IP Ltd. represented this worldwide famous casino and resorting company in the opposition appeal.

On August 30, 2013, China National People’s Congress enacted the amended Chinese Trademark Law, which shall come into effect as of May 1, 2014.
On August 13, 2013,, the National Development and Reform Commission of China and Ministry of Finance of China announced to reduce partial governmental departments administration fees beginning October 1, 2013, among which, the official fee of paper copies of trademark application will be reduced to RMB800 (around US$130) from RMB1000 (around US$170) per application.
In July 2013, the Beijing High Court (second instance court) sustained the decision held by the Beijing First Intermediate Court (first instance court), and recognized an internationally known hotel’s English Mark constitute as well-known in China. This internationally known hotel is represented by Beijing East IP Law Firm.
