On September 24, Dr. Lulin GAO, president of Beijing EAST IP Law Firm/Beijing EAST IP Ltd., was appointed to serve the Internet Committee for the 2014-2015 Committee Term at INTA.

In September 2013, the China Trademark Office (CTMO) recognized that the mark of a worldwide famous social network website enjoys relatively high reputation in China and granted cross-class protection to that website. Beijing East IP Ltd. represented this worldwide famous social network website in the trademark opposition.

On September 12 – 13, 2013, Beijing East IP organized a team to attend the Patent Information Annual Conference of China 2013 in Beijing with a theme of “patent information promotes innovation and motivates strategic development.” Our team exchanged views and discussed with various intellectual property professionals from Europe, the U.S., and Japan.

In September 2013, the Trademark Review and Adjudication (TRAB) rendered a favorable decision for a worldwide famous casino and resorting company based on its prior copyright and rejected the opposed mark’s registration. Beijing East IP Ltd. represented this worldwide famous casino and resorting company in the opposition appeal.

The article The article Interpretation of Ten Key Amendments of New Chinese Trademark Law 2013 prepared by Mr. Jason Wang and Ms. Yan Zhang, partners at Beijing East IP Law Firm, was published on China Intellectual Property Rights Protection Website sponsored by the former chief judge of IP Tribunal of China Supreme Court.

In July 2013, the Beijing High Court (second instance court) sustained the decision held by the Beijing First Intermediate Court (first instance court), and recognized an internationally known hotel’s English Mark constitute as well-known in China. This internationally known hotel is represented by Beijing East IP Law Firm.

On August 5, 2013, Mr. Jason Wang, partner at Beijing East IP Law Firm, was invited by China Intellectual Property News (state newspaper hosted by State Intellectual Property Office) to comment on the administrative lawsuit of the trademark McLaren rendered recently by Beijing High Court (second instance court for all the court appeals against Trademark Review and Adjudication Board).
